Executive Producer Alfred Gough Talks About Margot Kidder's Visit To Smallville

Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the four Superman movies, will be playing Bridgette Crosby, emissary to Dr. Virgil Swann, in at least two episodes of Smallville, the WB has announced. Her first episode will be the fourth season premiere, "Crusade," and then the character will return again in the sixth episode, "Transference."

KryptonSite has been able to receive a quote from Smallville Executive Producer Alfred Gough about Kidder's casting, where he reveals a little bit about the character Margot will be playing...

"We had this role in the season opener. Initially, we were quite frankly hoping to get Christopher Reeve, and then due to scheduling issues [he was unavailable] ... We started looking around for an emissary to Dr. Swann because it's a pretty important piece of information in the season opener that's given to Martha to help get Clark back . And we wanted it to come from Dr. Swann, who is the only person she could think to to turn for help since [Martha's] sort of the last of the Last of the Mohicans in the season opener. Everybody else is down for the count. Dead, gone, in a void, poisoned. We started looking again to the movies to see who potentially could play this character, and Margot was kind of our first choice, and ... she was more than happy to revisit the whole Superman legend again. She plays Bridgette Crosby, who is also a character from the comics, who I think in the future, [is] with STAR Labs."

And will Ms. Crosby be interacting with the Dr. Swann character on the show?

"Doubtful. Though we allude in this first scene that at one point, she and Dr. Swann did have a romantic relationship. Just again, that's sort of our wink to the old movies."

For more comments from Al Gough on Season 4, keep an eye on KryptonSite in the coming days

CITAZIONE
"We pick up three months after he was sucked into the cave under Jor-El's tutelage. We'll see him dumped out in a cornfield buck-naked, and he'll run into Lois Lane. That's their first meeting — and he has no memory of being Clark Kent. He's Kal-El and he can fly," Alfred Gough said in a Sept. 6 TV Guide Online interview.
- And what about Lex? "He seemed dead, didn't he? Through the course of the first episode, we'll learn how he beat it," Gough said.
- Do Lana and Lois have a cat fight over Clark? "Actually, they get along great, much to the consternation of Clark," Gough told TV Guide Online. "He and Lois don't get along. She's not the Lois from the comics or movies or other TV shows. She's a 19-year-old Army brat. Her father, Gen. Sam Lane, is a Great Santini type who's running a military base outside Smallville. He gets involved with the Luthors."
- And what of Clark and Lex's relationship? "It's strained. Repairs will be attempted, but inevitably, something else will happen. And Lex is running Luther Corp. at this point because Lionel is in jail."

Da KryptonSite - 3/9/2004
CITAZIONE
Lex visits Lionel in prison, and pointedly makes references or accuses Lionel of poisoning him and blowing up the house that Chloe was in. Lex also accuses Lionel of breaking into his plane at 20,000 feet.
- Lex's motivation for being in Egypt is revealed - it seems there are three crystals hidden around the world by "scientifically advanced, ancient cultures." Legend says that if they're united, they point the way towards a treasury of knowledge. It almost sounds like the three crystals may be what it takes to unlock the key to the Fortress of Solitude, doesn't it? This theory is also consistent with the WB's official description which says that "Kal-El takes to the skies to steal a powerful kryptonite crystal."
- Lex asks Lionel if he thinks the crystals could save his life. Lionel berates him for wasting time on financing a "fairy tale" that's taken him around the world looking for crystals and symbols like the ones in the cave, before Lex reminds Lionel that he's been doing the same thing for years.
- Lex tells Lionel "You shouldn't wound what you can't kill." Apparently his invulnerability kept him alive whereas the poison would have killed an ordinary man. The game is on.

CITAZIONE
- Jason is upset and angry that Lana is leaving him as she says “I thought leaving Smallville would give me the answers I’ve been looking for. Now I think they were there all along.” Lana continues to say that this is something she has to do and “Haven’t you ever felt you were destined for something you had no control over?” Jason responds sadly “Yes, that’s the way I felt when I met you.” Jason then looks at Lana’s beautiful face and heads for the door.

- Lana seems confused. She looks at a mirror, pulls off her shirt and stares at "THE TATTOO on her naked back." She then looks on the wall at a brass rubbing. The camera zooms close-up on the "warrior princess’ shield".

- Next, the scene cuts to the SHIELD mounted on an ancient wall in a chamber at night illuminated with candles. Eight men in red hooded cloaks surround a table while the Seer reveals saying, "It has begun."

- In the Lois/Clark hospital scene we mentioned from earlier spoilers , Lois does a little product placement by pulling out “Nicorette” from her purse. She started smoking when she was 15 as an act of rebellion against her father. She’s given up smoking but has a “gum addiction”. Clark responds by saying “You talk a lot.”

- Clark tries leaving the hospital and says he’s not supposed to be here. Lois blocks his way. Clark then grabs her shoulders, picks her up, and moves her out of the doorway.

- Martha is walking down a hospital corridor after visiting Jonathan and is stunned to see Clark. She drops her purse and races to hug him. “Clark! It is you. I thought I’d lost you forever.” Clark remains stiff and says “Who are you? I don’t know you.” Lois says not to take it personally and that he doesn’t even know his own name.

- “Jensen Ackles has been added to the cast of the WB Network drama "Smallville" as a regular. He will play the stubbornly independent heir to a rich Metropolis financial firm who becomes romantically involved with Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk).” Source: The Hollywood Reporter

CITAZIONE
Lana makes the comment to Jason, "I thought leaving Smallville would give me the answers I've been looking for. Now I think they were there all along."
- Jason makes some snark about leaving a message on his answering machine, or a note saying "We'll always have Paris." It sounds like Lana is going to be wishing Jason goodbye, which calls into question if the Powers That Be have decided to just eliminate the Jason character idea completely.
- "Haven't you ever felt like you were destined for something you had no control over?" Lana asks Jason. "That's the way I felt when I met you," he tells her.
- Lana shakes her head, and then steps to the mirror, pulls off her shirt, and stares at a tattoo on her naked back. (Not sure if Jason's still in the room for that or not. But this must be part of her "carefree new look!")
- There are eight men in red velvet coats, in a chamber illuminated by candles. Their leader, "The Seer," says "It has begun."
- The Lois and Clark graveyard scene has been moved to later in the story. Lois is visiting Chloe's grave, with the plastic flowers and all, and she tells Clark that she's glad he's passed the clothing-optional stage in their relationship. "I'm surprised you remember me at all," she tells him.

Spoilers for “Crusade” (4.01)

It is 3 months later since we left Smallville in that Godfather like ending.

We first head to Egypt close to the Pyramids of Giza where men are working in a 50x50 pit. We see a “shield-shape chamber.” An Egyptian worker is screaming in Arabic that he found something. He found a statue of the Egyptian sun god RA, which has the body of a man head of a falcon. The figurine is made of gold and lapis-lazuli.

The workers then start chanting “God is great!” as they hold up their shovel and tools. The Egyptian worker clutches the figurine and heads to a large tent. He drops to his knees and later bows when a man in a white suit comes out of the tent.

Lex Luthor is alive, but weak, and is apparently in Egypt. He meets up with his Egyptian driver, Tariq, and gives him a brick of $100 bills saying “I don’t want any record that I was here. Bury everything.”

We then see Lex is lying shirtless in a filtration chamber which is a high tech sarcophagus at the rear cabin of a jet plane. The captain tells Dr. Gabrielle Vaughan to buckle up as turbulence is on the horizon. As they are weathering the storm, the co-pilot notices something in the radar. The captain at one point says, “What is it? A bird or plane?” And oh yeah, did we mention that Clark “flying” to the jet somehow?

Lois Lane, described as a sophisticated young woman, is driving in a car at night. She passes through fields of corn and there are storm clouds overhead. She uses the “On Star” feature in her car because she is “totally lost.” She stops when she sees a bolt of lightning ahead from the heavens.

Lois takes Clark to the hospital to have him checked out. She thinks he got hit by lightning. The admissions clerk tells Lois to fill out some forms. She then says, “Slight problem. I don’t know who he is and neither does he. He’s got amnesia. So I’m turning him over to you.” Clark is naked except for a red blanket draped over his shoulders.

As Lois and the clerk continue arguing, Clark looks at his own reflection from a window. While he touches his face, the blanket slips off and an old woman gasps in shock over naked Clark. Lois sarcastically says that they need to get him a robe first.

Jonathan is lying in a hospital bed that is attached to monitors. Martha is at his bedside reading aloud to him from a book.

There’s a Lana and Jason scene. They talk about having twenty euros (which coverts to about $24 USD if you’re wondering). Jason puts his finger on Lana’s lips and then pecks her on the cheek.

ADDITIONAL SPOILERS

In the empty halls of Smallville High at night, there’s a voice we hear coming from the Torch office. The voice belongs to Chloe but she is off-screen. She says, “I don't know where to start. I'm sure you must have a million questions, but I don’t know how many answers I can give you…" The camera then reveals that someone is sitting in front of the computer watching Chloe’s taped message on video. Chloe’s voice continues with, "please find out who did this Clark, you're the only one who can." The image then freeze frames.

After Lex’s conversation with Tariq, he is late for an arranged meeting with Dr. Gabrielle Vaughan. Lex says, “I’m well aware of my tardiness, Doctor – But some things are worth the risk.”

- The episode begins "Three months later..." Someone finds something in a shield-shaped chamber in Egypt. Something is found - a statue of the Egyptian sun god Ra. Suddenly, a man steps out, wearing a white suit backlit by the sun.
- Clark and Lois try to get into a hospital, and Lois says "There's a guy here who needs assistance." She claims he has amnesia so she doesn't really know who he is. (Shouldn't the Smallville Medical folks recognize him by now?)
- Clark steps to a window and sees his reflection for what seems like his first time. As he looks, the blanket he's wearing falls, causing Lois to deadpan that he may need a gown first.
- Lex lies in a filtration chamber on a jet, we assume recovering from the poison. Outside the jet, the captain sees something. "What is it? A bird or a plane?" We don't know...
- Lex is traveling to Egypt; perhaps having something to do with the teaser scene. He instructs a man named Tariq to hide any evidence of him ever being there.
- The casting pages have certain bits blacked out, but we could swear we see the name "CHLOE" among the blacked-out lines... meaning it seems Chloe may be alive and well, despite the graveside service. If that is indeed Chloe, her scenes take place in the Smallville Torch.
- Clark and Lois first meet as Lois is visiting Chloe's grave, in a scene that may bring back memories of Clark and Lana's first real exchange of dialogue in the Smallville pilot episode.
- For some reason plastic flowers are placed instead of real ones.

Secondo me deve avere una ragione legata all' episodio questa notizia, perchè altrimenti a chi interessa sapere in anteprima che i fiori sulla tomba di Chloe sono finti e non veri? Boh.. cmq sono americani meglio aspettarsi di tutto.
