| CITAZIONE | | DC COMICS VILLAIN MXYZPTLK TRIPS UP SMALLVILLE - Chloe (Allison Mack) is drawn into an underground gambling ring at school run by foreign exchange student Mikail Mxyzptlk (guest star Trent Ford) and loses her savings on a football game after Mxyzptlk uses his powers to control all the players – including Clark (Tom Welling). When Chloe discovers Mxyzptlk’s secret, he kidnaps her and threatens to kill her unless Clark throws the championship game. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) threatens Mxyzptlk with deportation unless he uses his powers for Lex’s benefit. Kristin Kreuk, John Glover, Jensen Ackles, Annette O’Toole and John Schneider also star. Paul Shapiro directed the episode, written by Mark Warshaw (#407). |

Playing Mikail Mxyzptlk in "Jinx," the seventh episode of Season Four, is a 25 year old actor by the name of Trent Ford. Ford grew up in London, and is half American, half English.
Trent's past credits include several episodes of The West Wing, the movie "Gosford Park," and also the movie "Slap Her, She's French," which also costarred Smallville alum Michael McKean.

| CITAZIONE | Trent Ford has been cast as Mikhail Mxzptlk in an upcoming episode of The WB's Smallville, The Continuum has learned.
In a recent interview with The Continuum, Smallville executive producer Al Gough provided the show's spin on the character.
"He will not be the imp in the purple hat," Gough said. "But there is a character who is sort of an Eastern European exchange student who is sort of a jinx."
According to Gough, the character will appear in the season's seventh episode.
Ford, 25, has appeared in such films as How to Deal and Gosford Park. He also appeared in several episodes of The West Wing. |

| CITAZIONE | "Jason looks at Clark, half-expecting a confession. 'Sure, what's up?' " says Jason. Then Clark turns and sees 'CROZER' who gives him a high-five jock hug. All the players are praising Clark about making this awesome play that has put them in the Championship and he's deflecting all the praise. The big game will take place on the same field that the Sharks play on. Then this 'Hot Cheerleader' calls out "Clark!" and she brings her other cheerleader friends. They dim the lights to bring out a football shaped cake w/ a football figurine in a Supes pose. They chant "Kent!
From the stands, Mikail’s gaze focuses on Clark as he says “Trip”. Suddenly Clark loses control and TRIPS unexpectedly. He falls onto the opposing player, Ditman, and you hear a “disturbing CRACK” as he hits the ground in the end zone.
It’s a touchdown as the announcer says “The Crows continue on to the State Championships”. The crowd goes wild but Lana, Chloe, Martha, Jonathan, and Clark look on with concern. Clark pushes through all his cheering teammates mobbing him to see Ditman lying motionless. He’s unconscious and Clark kneels and is horrified at what he’s done.
Meanwhile, Mikail continues to glare at Clark and is angered that the Crows won the game.
During possibly the Championship game, Mikail gets Clark’s attention by carrying Chloe’s press pass. Clark calls a timeout. Jason says “Are you out of your mind? You just blew our last time out.” Clark grabs Mikail and asks where Chloe is. Mikail threatens “If you want to see her alive you should make sure the Crows lose this game…You walk off this field, Chloe dies. You make touchdown and Chloe dies.”
Jason then calls Clark back to the game. Clark scans the crowd to see what Mikail’s done to Chloe. He then uses his superhearing and drowns out the crowd, band, etc. He hears her screaming for “Help” through her taped mouth. Then he uses his X-ray vision to see through some sort of metal. He calls for Crozer to help him make a play on the field. |

| CITAZIONE | In the episode's teaser, Mikail Mxyzptlk uses his power to command Clark to "trip" on the field. He barrels into the bulky Ditman and the momentum puts them into the end zone, scoring a touchdown. The Crows have won the game. Clark looks around, and learns that the opposing player has been knocked out - a result of his powers. This is apparently what has Jason "half-expecting a confession" later.
- Mikail shows up with Chloe's press pass and says that if he ever wants to see her alive again, he should make sure that the Crows lose this game.
- Clark makes some on field decision (we're not sure what, it's crossed out) and the other players are perplexed, and asking Clark what's with him.
- Clark uses super-hearing to locate Chloe's cries for help. |

| CITAZIONE | The Crows win a big game and they are going to go to the championships and play on the football field that the Metropolis Sharks play on - a revelation which is "killing Clark."
- Jason gives Clark a look, "half-expecting a confession." About what? We're not sure. Does Jason know The Secret, or suspect it? Maybe.
- Cheerleaders come in and start chanting Clark's name.
- Mxyzptlk's changing the odds for football may cause trouble for Chloe who has some money riding on the big game. |

- Another DC Comics/Superman universe character makes his Smallville debut in this episode. A foreign exchange student named Mikhail Mxyzptlk, brought over to the States by Lionel Luthor before his prison stint because Lionel found him to be "interesting."
- Mxyzptlk will of course cause chaos as he has in any previous incarnation. He may use his powers to do something like, say, alter the fortunes of the Smallville High football team.
